Taylor Swift is officially heading back to the CMA Awards for the first time in a decade.
Swift confirmed that she will attend the 60th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville on November 18, ending an absence that began after her surprise appearance at the ceremony in 2016. Her return follows a Single of the Year nomination for “I Knew It, I Knew You,” the original song she recorded for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack.
The confirmation guarantees that Swift will be in the building. It does not, however, mean she has been booked to perform or present an award. As of September 17, the Country Music Association has not announced any performers or presenters for the ceremony.
How Taylor Swift Confirmed Her CMA Return
Swift announced her plans through Instagram Stories on September 10, shortly after the CMA nominations were revealed.
“LOOKS LIKE I HAVEN’T YEE’D MY LAST HAW THANK YOU CMA!!!! See you there Nov. 18,” she wrote while resharing the nomination announcement.
The message was a direct confirmation of her attendance rather than a general acknowledgment of the nomination. It also leaned playfully into the country-music identity that defined the beginning of her career before her gradual transition into pop.
The ceremony will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and broadcast live from 8 to 11 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+. It will become available on Hulu the following day.
Lainey Wilson is returning as host. The event will mark the 60th edition of the CMA Awards, which the organization describes as the longest-running annual music awards program on network television.
Why “I Knew It, I Knew You” Brought Swift Back
Swift received one nomination for “I Knew It, I Knew You,” a country song created for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5.
The Single of the Year award recognizes the performer, producers and mix engineer behind a recording. Swift is nominated as both artist and co-producer, alongside fellow producer Jack Antonoff and mix engineer Laura Sisk. The nomination is Antonoff’s first at the CMA Awards.
Swift faces a competitive field. The other nominees are Ella Langley’s “Be Her” and “Choosin’ Texas,” Lainey Wilson’s “Somewhere Over Laredo” and Cody Johnson’s “The Fall.”
Langley leads the entire 2026 field with nine nominations, including two places in the Single of the Year category. Miranda Lambert follows with seven nominations, while Kacey Musgraves and producer Ben West have five each.
Unlike fan-voted awards, the CMA winners are selected by eligible professional members of the Country Music Association. The organization said 7,083 members participated in determining this year’s nominees. Final voting is scheduled to close October 27.
Swift Last Appeared at the Ceremony in 2016
Swift’s previous CMA Awards appearance came on November 2, 2016, during the ceremony’s 50th anniversary.
She made a surprise appearance to present Entertainer of the Year to Garth Brooks. The moment arrived after she had completed her transition from country music to mainstream pop with 1989, although she acknowledged Nashville’s role in the career she had built.
Swift had already won Entertainer of the Year in 2009 and 2011. Her first major CMA victory came in 2007, when she received the Horizon Award, the category now known as New Artist of the Year.
She has won 12 CMA Awards during her career. A victory for “I Knew It, I Knew You” would bring her total to 13.
Swift has received CMA recognition during her absence from the ceremony, including nominations connected to “Better Man,” “Babe,” “betty” and her “I Bet You Think About Me” music video. The distinction in 2026 is that she has now committed to attending.
Is Taylor Swift Performing at the CMA Awards?
No performance has been confirmed.
The CMA Awards’ official performers and presenters page currently says that the 2026 lineup will be announced later. Swift’s Instagram message only promised that she would attend.
That leaves several possibilities open. She could appear solely as a nominee, present an award, perform “I Knew It, I Knew You” or take part in a larger anniversary segment. Until Swift, the CMA or ABC announces an additional role, none of those possibilities should be treated as confirmed.
Her attendance also does not confirm a new country album or a permanent genre change. “I Knew It, I Knew You” has nevertheless produced a meaningful country-radio comeback. The song reached No. 1 on U.S. country radio in September, giving Swift her first chart-topper there in 13 years.
